In the summer of 1984, Steve Buyers (then a superintendent for Walker Construction), was servicing a job at DFW airport. Needing traffic control services, he hired a barricade company to handle things. Or so he thought.
Unfortunately, after three days of minimal help and zero service, Steve called the barricade company and in so many words was told “They would get to him when they get to him”. Before Steve even hung up the phone, he realized that barricade companies were few and far between, and that choice and competition were sorely needed.
Within 24 hours, Steve started Buyers Barricades with nothing more than his ’65 Chevy pickup, a 16-foot trailer and the vow to run his new business by the golden rule.
While we’re proud of our steady growth over the years, we’re even more proud of our unwavering dedication to our customers. Steve’s commitment to run a service-focused barricade company – as strong as it was in 1984 – lives on as Shelba Buyers takes the helm.
